My name is Kaitlyn Anderson but you can call me Kate. I am studying Resource Conservation at the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana. I have been in Kyrgyzstan since August 2017 for a study abroad year. I started volunteering with Panthera in November 2017 and will be working with them for the summer. I am passionate about wildlife conversation and anything to do with being in the outdoors. I have spent many days exploring the backwoods of Montana, including many packing trips and one summer as a guide for horse riding. The ways I will be most useful during this training is helping with hiking and backpacking skills, taking detailed notes of our experiences, and photographing in the field. I am eager to help in any other ways necessary so don’t be shy to pass on tasks to me or make special requests. I am looking forward to participating in this project and can’t wait to see where it goes. Unfortunately, I will only be helping until August 4th and then flying back to the states on August 5th. But I plan to return to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan within the following year or two to continue helping on projects.
